Why you shouldn’t do dishes when you are sick…

Last Tuesday was a bad day.  I had a cold.  Usually for me, this means a couple of days of a runny nose and sore throat – I don’t get sick very often and when I do it’s usually pretty minor.  Not this cold, it was WAY worse.  I couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think.  I even took the day off from work because I just couldn’t function.  The worst thing I could do though was sit around.  Moving seemed to help the most to clear my head.  So I decided to do the dishes.

I put all the dishes in the dishwasher, got out the dishwasher detergent and filled up the cups.  “Man,” I thought, “this soap is really runny … and why is it clear?”  But I kept filling up the cups.  Just as I finished filling them and was closing them up, it hit me… I had the dish SOAP, not the dishwasher DETERGENT.  HUGE difference.  I wiped out the cups and refilled them with dishwasher detergent.  Apparently I didn’t quite get it all. Here’s the result…

Moral of the story:  Don’t do the dishes when you’re sick!

Luckily I had only left a little soap in the dishwasher and everything is fine now.  I just had a little soap on the floor to clean up. I can just imagine what would have happened if it had not clicked in time.
