Furnishing and Decorating the Family Room 2

One major task is to furnish and decorate the family room.  When I moved here I decided to start over and really decorate.  I am really enjoying this and having a lot of fun.

I thought I had some pictures of the family room with it just empty.  But I can’t find them, so here are some before pictures from before I bought the house.

Now here it is after I decorated.

The last thing I did was add some plants in the vases and you can see a picture of that.  It turned out the vases were for artificial plants only, so I made vase liners out of 1.5 litre water bottles.  They even have a watering tube that fills a reservoir in the bottom of the vase!

I also put a plant in the corner behind the sectional.  It looks great!  But once I put it there and watered it, I realized that the pot had a crack in it and water was all over the floor.  So I have to replace the pot (or at least find another one that it will fit in). When I do and get the plant in place I’ll add a photo of it to the album.

I’m not done yet, it still needs something on the walls.  My current plan is to make this room much more green.  Including plants in the high windows and other places on the wall and probably a larger aquarium where Z’s bed is now.  The aquarium will also serve to water the plants and the plants will filter the water for the fish (aquaponics).  At least that’s my current plans.  We’ll see how it goes!

I’ll post updates as the decorating progresses.  I have a lot more rooms to do too!

P.S. I’d like to add a quick thank you to Hans from the Ashley Furniture store.  He did a great job helping me decide on a layout for this room and finding just the right pieces.
